Pubic hair and axillary (armpit) hair are markers of puberty. They are the result of increased production of male hormones (testosterone) by both boys and girls at puberty. There is no other function or purpose for this hair in today閳ユ獨 humans, although its role in sexual attraction and survival of the species for our ancestors is not clear.
