Can cat hair make a human itchy..?

i've been taking care of these 2 cats for a week now. but i've started to get really itchy. i have like a rash on my chest, random spots on my stomach, and on my left outer thigh. i noticed when i'd go to my friend's house (their owner) i'd feel itchy as well. i don't think they're fleas because cats are indoor cats and she's never had a problem (as far as i know). when i'm in my car or my bedroom (never let them in there), i'm alright, but after being near them or having them in the same room as me for a while. i have to make them leave the room, because i get itchy!!! i've had fleas bites before when i was little and played outside alot. do you think its the hair or fleas?! and what can i do? :(

Sounds like you're allergic to cats, these are the symptoms. Their skin and/or fur can cause this reaction in people. Normally you'd have to take something like Piriton, but if you don't want to you'll just have to stick it out.

The red dots might possibly be fleas though, are they in particular itchy? Indoor cats are not safe from fleas, so you might want to check the cats for fleas - comb them, preferably with a flea comb, and check the fur on the comb for black dots and flakes, these are flea dirts. If they have them, pick up some treatment from a vets - any vets. Don't use any of the stuff from pet stores, it doesn't work. You friend can pay you back when she gets back! Hopefully she'll be glad to know her cat's flea problem is being sorted.

It's not an uncommon problem to get rashes from cats.

YES!!ABSOLUTELY!-YOU KNOW WHEN YOU ARE PREGANANT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO CLEAN THE LITTER BOX BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF TOXICPLASMOSIS?.I took over the counter benadryl when I was preganant,but maybe that has changed.You can use baking soda paste for the rash,'tho.Cats can get fleas if they are indoor animals,but got exposed to an outdoor one.

I would seek a Doctor if the allergy is severe since you are pregnant I would not take ANYTHING for a allergy until you consult your OB. I would suggest that you just stay away from the cats. You might have to find someone else to take care of the cats.

cats can get flees indoors,sound like your allergic to them,try calamine lotion to ease itching,or you can buy anti hitermine tablets you get about 7 of them in a pack,one a day,that will help,but check label first if your pregnant
