What kind of persons is the hair known as hair human hair extensions cut from ?

Indian people, russian prisoners exchanging for food etc...are some legends. Does anyone know how to verify these tales? or have any more tales on where it is coming from, the reason for the question is, there is so much of it availible for such little money. like $20 , how do they even make a profit when it takes so long to grow ? It just doesnt make sence. It's very strange.

I seriously think that "Human Hair" comes from people in countries worldwide that sell their hair for profit. These women and men grow their hair for the sole purpose of cutting it off and making money for it. Major hair corporations probably have post or some type of market system that allows people to come and sell their hair. And the length is the major deciding factor for how much money will be made. For instance when I buy a 24" (inch) pack I pay like $24 and usually i buy two packs so there is a lot of money to be made from this. I don't think there is anyway to verify this but hopefully I've helped enough.
